Hi! I’m Christina, a freelance writer based in Berlin who’s living her dream of exploring every corner of the world to discover stories that illuminate and inspire.
Before I took that big step to move to Berlin – an edgy city that taught me German and shoves me wonder every other day including currywurst and fervent startups – I honed my writing skills as a print journalist in Singapore. I’ve covered a range of stories from Arts and Entertainment to Lifestyle, Travel and Culture in both English and Chinese – being effectively bilingual in the two languages.
Creative writing like poetry and short stories are an outlet for my (sometimes) torrential emotions. I was selected by the National Arts Council of Singapore’s Mentor Access Programme (Writing Short Stories in English) in 2008 to develop this insatiable urge to write, and has learnt much from my very kind and patient mentor – London-born Singapore-based author Meira Chand.
When I’m not writing, I frequent various Primary and Secondary Schools in Singapore, giving workshops including creative writing, storytelling as well as speech and drama. In Berlin, I’ve worked with small groups of children and adults on their English and Chinese learning – using news, games, music and drama to facilitate a more enjoyable learning experience.
I do sometimes miss broadcast work like TV and radio presenting, where I started my media career from.
However, I reckon, my love for talking to people is as immense as my desire to travel and write; and that, can always be broadcast from my heart, regardless of where I am.
